I didn’t realize that this place had a website until just now- it’s a community service center in the metro Phoenix area, in a sketchy part of town, but it was so amazing to be working there for just a week! All of the volunteers that I met were very friendly and pretty darned hilarious, and all of them had been through hard times only to come out stronger and with the desire to help other people. We hosted a vacation bible school while we were there, and it ended up as a sort of latchkey thing I guess, but the kids were just so amazing. They started showing up early and staying late, helping out when we were painting the mural and planting the trees and flowers.

The point is, it’s a really amazing place, and if you live in the area then you should stop by and see if there’s anything you can do to help! I can guarantee that you won’t regret it.
